Abstract

Over the past decade electricity demand has outstripped supply of electricity in Sub-Saharan African countries experiencing steep increases in economic growth. Most of the energy sectors in Africa are yet to be liberalized and the onus of supplying electricity rests solely with the electricity utilities. In many cases the installed capacity has not been able to meet the demand for electricity. Slide 1-119 of this research service identifies and analyses Sub-Saharan Africa' s largest diesel power generation projects and highlights the key partners involved in these projects.
