Abstract

This IDC study develops some estimates for spending on enterprise applications, specifically CRM, ERP, and collaborative applications, using recent survey data (focused on the medium-sized and large business categories). Software is the key component of enterprise application solutions; however, even though software spending is projected to decline in 2009 and 2010, there is potential spending growth in the sector due to hardware and IT services activities with the possibility of some (limited) software spending growth as well.

"While software revenue may be down for enterprise application vendors in Canada, the solution area itself remains viable for software vendors and ecosystem partners through the tail-end of the recession, with better growth prospects in 2011," says Jim Westcott, research manager, Software.
