How are WAN managers solving today's biggest networking challenges?
This one-of-a-kind survey report explores how real network decision makers are managing this moment in technology.
How We Did It
In 2018 TeleGeography surveyed IT professionals whose daily role includes managing and sourcing wide area networks for major corporations around the world.
We put special emphasis on finding decision makers who oversaw U.S. national, regional, and global corporate wide area computer networks.
Participants came from a number of industries, ranging from SMEs to Fortune 500. Most, however, were multinational enterprises with a median annual 2017 revenue of $10 billion. Additional in-depth interviews were conducted with 10 standout respondents who represented networking scenarios that we saw as prescient of future trends.
The Analysis
Our laser focus led us to 60 top-tier respondents who shared their unique experiences in network management, specifically as it relates to:
- Current network configuration, such as geographic extent, services used, typical capacities, and preferred suppliers
- SD-WAN adoption - completed or as it pertains to future plans-including preferred vendor types, key factors in selecting service, and roll out strategies
- Future network configurations after SD-WAN adoption including use of MPLS, moving to hybrid WANs and future capacity plans
Our resulting report details not only responses to questions covering network configuration, sourcing decisions, SDWAN adoption, and SD-WAN's impact on the future, but TeleGeography's expert analysis of standout trends.
