The 10 th edition of the CSIL Research ‘LEDs and the worldwide lighting market (and Beyond) ’ is mainly based on around 300 interviews with manufacturers and retailers of lighting fixtures worldwide during the first half of 2019, in addition to statistical data and 30-year experience of CSIL in the lighting fixtures industry.

The Report provides estimated data on consumption of total lighting and LED-based lighting for the years 2012-2018 and forecasts for the years 2019-2022.

HIGHLIGHTS

A miscellanea of events occurring in the LED lighting business since 1989

During 2018, the world market of LED lighting worth in excess of 60 billion USD, and will exceed 80 billion USD in 2022, according to CSIL forecasts.

Around 1.4 billion units of LED manufactured (and still some 700 million units are Conventional).

Around 85% of the units (70% in value) are priced within 100 USD.

Top 50 players hold around 50% of the market. Their turnover increased of about 10% last year, as far as LED lighting sales are concerned.

Average EBITDA is increasing, from 10.3% to 12.8% in the last 5 years.

Smart lighting market is forecasted in excess of 10 billion USD in 2022, mainly for Office, Retail and Street Lighting.

Around one third of the lighting stock installed is today LED-based in the most advanced countries (around 50% when Professional lighting are concerned).
