A flowmeter is a device that measures the rate of flow of water, fuel, or gas through a pipe. There are various types of flowmeters: vortex flowmeter, turbine flowmeter, magnetic flowmeter, ultrasonic flowmeter, positive displacement flowmeter, coriolis flowmeter, and multiphase flowmeter. Vortex flowmeters, also known as oscillatory flowmeters or vortex shedding flowmeters, are used to measure the vibrations of the downstream vortexes caused by the barrier placed in a moving stream.
