This IDC study presents a five-year forecast for the worldwide server microprocessor market for the 2021-2026 period."The deluge of data across the internet means that server-class microprocessors will have plenty of computing to do for the foreseeable future," said Shane Rau, research vice president, Computing Semiconductors at IDC. "However, server processors continue to face the question of how to position their products against server-class GPUs, FPGAs, and AI ASICs and ASSPs that are competing for those computing cycles and where to position their products, such as in the core datacenter and in the edge infrastructure."
