The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Mahindra Defence for the procurement of 1,300 of these LSVs, valued at approximately Rs 1,056 crore (around $130 million). BAE Systems has been awarded a $754 million contract by the U.S. Army to continue manufacturing the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV). This contract marks the transition into the second phase of full-rate production for the AMPV program.The new contract will cover the production period from March 2026 to February 2027. The AMPV is a family of vehicles designed to replace the aging M113 armored personnel carriers that have been in service since the 1960s. The AMPV's five variants will be utilized by the Army's Armored Brigade Combat Teams, providing critical upgrades in terms of survivability, mobility, and interoperability.
