This IDC study presents a view of worldwide AI life-cycle software revenue from the historical year 2022 to the five forecast years 2023-2027. This includes insight into developments that will influence future forecast demand during the period. "Despite the economic challenges in 2022, the AI life-cycle software market showed strong growth with projected flat or increased spending in 2023," said Kathy Lange, research director, IDC's AI and Automation research. "The frenzy around generative AI has brought all forms of AI back into the limelight. IDC expects this growth trend to continue through 2023 and beyond as foundation models become more accessible and are embedded into AI-enabled applications. Synthetic data, federated learning, and reinforcement learning will enable new ML use cases at lower costs and greater privacy. Vendors will enhance model performance by re-architecting model processing for better compute resource optimization."
