This IDC Market Perspective shares an overview of Salesforce's Dreamforce 2025 conference held October 14-16. Dreamforce 2025 was a significant turning point for Salesforce, which has transformed both its offering portfolio and its professional services operation to meet the real-world opportunities and challenges of agentic technology. "As agentic technology scales up across the enterprise, it is becoming clear that it has limitations as well as strengths, that it must be governed and controlled carefully, and that it must coexist with traditional deterministic enterprise software for the foreseeable future," said Douglas Hayward, senior research director, Worldwide Customer Experience Services and Strategies, IDC. "At Dreamforce, Salesforce showed that it understands both the challenges and the opportunities of agentic technology, and that it has a credible strategy for taking customers through what will be a major business transformation. That's a transformation in which they will need help from both Salesforce and its consulting partners."
